A focused introduction to trauma and its effects
GALs bring essential legal knowledge and advocacy to their work with children in foster care. This workshop complements that expertise by exploring children’s emotional needs and how trauma can affect development.
Explore how trauma can affect the brain, body, behavior, and development as children grow.
Understand behavior as communication. It may express unmet needs, stress, or pain a child has not yet had the words to explain.
Consider how a child may be communicating from a younger developmental stage than their chronological age suggests.
